Canon F1 Review Where the war with Nikon began
The Canon F1 was the first successful professional SLR camera from Canon. Released in 1971 it marked the beginning of the F1 series and fired the first shot in a decades-long rivalry with Nikon. Throughout the early 1970 s the Japanese juggernaut Nikon dominated the professional SLR market. The Canon system 1 was designed to compete with the Nikon F system which had 10 years of ecosystem growth. Less than a year after Canon Nikon released the culmination of a 5 year project the F2 2 which overwhelmed Canon which barely resembled 1962 Nikon System 3 . 1 This is the Canon F-1 system from 1971 at launch. The downside of this is that it may be difficult to source lenses at the wider end for the Canon. Nikon s 14-24mm f 2.8 lens has garnered a superb reputation and is perfect for getting in close to While Nikon s body offers an ISO range of 100 - 51 200 extendable to 102 400 - 1 640 000 Canon sticks to the comfortable ISO 100 - 16 000 -25 600 range. Also Nikon has over twice as many focus points as Canon 99 of which are cross-type. The smaller size and longer battery life are also worth mentioning.Nikon F 1966 August 14 2017. September 1 2020. Photography Reviews. This is a Nikon F single lens reflex camera which was made by Nippon Kogaku in Japan from 1959 through 1973. It was Nippon Kogaku s first attempt in the SLR market and was aimed at the professional photographer.
A natural tinkerer with a keen interest in the inner workings of machines Yoshida was fascinated by the 35mm cameras of the German manufacturers Leica and Contax specifically the Leica Model II and the Contax Model 1 released in 1932 and 1933 respectively. The iconic pair were at the time considered to be the finest 35mm cameras on the market and had expensive price-tags to match their The Nikkormat FT-2 which was introduced in 1975 and available in chrome or black features an all-metal multiple-blade Copal Square S focal plane shutter with a shutter-speed range of 1 to 1 1000 of a second. The layout of the camera controls on Nikkormats is totally unconventional. Rather than a shutter-speed dial Nikkormats feature a The F3AF introduced in 1983 was Nikon s first autofocus camera and perhaps is the marker in the sand for where their market domination began to unravel. With that in mind here are what I 3. Nikon D1 1999 Image credit Nikon Why it s a classic digital life truly began here. The true digital camera pioneer was Kodak but the Nikon D1 marked Nikon s attempt to challenge Kodak The Nikon FA was supposed to dazzle tech-obsessed shooters in the 1980s but other manufacturers kept pace. The Nikon EM and FG were supposed to knock the Canon AE-1 off its perch but were outsold by a huge margin. Even the Nikon Compact F series perhaps the best overall series of SLRs ever made never toppled consumer-oriented rivals. Which
Nikon s first truly consumer DSLR the Nikon D70 launched a nickel under 1 000 1 000 and competed directly with the Canon EOS 300D while undercutting Nikon s own D100 by some distance The quirky Nikkormat FTn. As it turns out returning to SLR shooting with a Nikkormat FTn makes for a bit of an interesting choice. These cameras are quite quirky. Mounting the lens is the first hurdle. Like the Photomic heads for the F and F2 the lenses communication with the light meter is via the bunny ears on the lens and a pin on This is a Canon EF 35mm single lens reflex camera made by Canon Inc of Japan between the years of 1973 and 1978. It used Canon s FD lens mount and was their first interchangeable lens SLR with in-body shutter priority automatic exposure. It is unique among FD mount SLRs in that it s the only one that uses a Copal Square metal blade shutter.According to DPReview s D30 review Canon s previous forays into the digital SLR world the EOS-D2000 and EOS-D6000 were joint ventures with Kodak Canon bodies with Kodak internals . Seriously no F1 In an era that was dominated by the Nikon F2 Canon created a number of F1 variants designed to surpass it such as the F1 Highspeed. Like The 1970 s saw further global expansion and in 1970 Canon released the AE-1 the world s first camera with a built in microcomputer and shutter priority auto-exposure metering a move which sparked an industry-wide auto-exposure revolution. In 1971 Canon released the F-1 an unashamedly high-end 35mm SLR.
Ergonomics and feel The Fujifilm X-T1 loses the ergonomics war with the DSLR. Nikon has always fit great in my hand and many photographers like having a solid camera grip to hold while shooting. The size and feel of the Fujifilm camera is more akin to an older manual film SLR like the Nikon FM2 or Canon A-E1.While Nikon was saving most of its f 2.8 zooms and all of its fast primes for 2020 and 2021 Canon came out with the kind of lenses you can brag about to your friends and enemies who shoot Sony A 35mm film rangefinder camera the Contax IIa continues a line of machines that stretches back to the original Contax I of 1932 and is the last of the non-metered Contax rangefinders the IIIa a version with a built-in light meter debuted in 1951 . It offers the greatest degree of sophistication in the smallest and most ergonomically The D3 lacked slightly in resolution compared to the Canon 1-Ds III but it made up for this in sheer performance and low-light capability. Building on this success Nikon extended on it with their legendary D3S and D3X models respectively undisputed leaders in low-light ability and megapixel resolution. Since then Canon never seemed to catch up.Nikon D3s pixel area is 2.2 times larger i.e. 120 larger or more than double than the Canon Mk IV. Not about 30 less surface area as stated in the article text. 30 accounts only for one dimension area is two dimensional. That should make a difference both in noise and dynamic range.
It was an insanely popular camera and a landmark release that went to sell over a million units in the subsequent years. For many it was one of the very first cameras that truly got everyday users excited about photography and became a go-to staple for the manufacturer. It s at this point Canon experiences a turning point and they begin to The camera won t die but when the batteries are weak it will beep and flash a battery icon in between each shot. Fujifilm Finepix S2 Pro with 50mm Nikkor f 1.8. For a 20-year-old camera the S2 Nikon began in 1917 as a merger of Japan s three leading optical manufacturers at the time. After World War II Nikon began to receive worldwide attention for its Nikkor lenses and Nikon camera lenses continue to be highly regarded for their sharp precise optics. Nikon NIKKOR Z 50mm f 1.8 S Lens Review. 07-17-2019. n a. Z-mount. n a The Canon 50 f1.8 is my favorite lens on my IIIf. I also use the Canon 35 f1.8 as a companion. Perhaps not in the same league as the Nikon but also a good performer well matched to the 50 Canon and even smaller. I have used them both on the M9 along with the Canon 50 f1.4 but prefer my older Leica lenses for a classic look on the M9.Tweet. Canon has issued a service notice advising users of counterfeit Canon EF 50mm F1.8 II DSLR lenses that fraudulently display the Canon logo and company trademarks. Canon became aware of these counterfeit lenses after customers began bringing them into company service centers seeking repairs. According to the service notice Canon
This boiled down to two F5s a N90 With Canon those would have been 2 EOS1-ns one A2 a SB28 strobe a wide angle zoom a medium zoom a 80-200 zoom and a 300mm f2.8. The F5 camera is very impressive. Its all metal chassis with titanium prism cover looks and feels as if it could go through a nuclear blast. The Canon EOS R beats the Nikon Z6 for resolution by 6 million pixels but it can t match the Nikon s continuous shooting frame rate full frame 4K UHD video ISO range or price. It s a decent camera but the EOS R inhabits a bit of a no-man s land in between the two Nikons and isn t a convincing rival for either.Yashica Auto-Yashinon 5.5cm f 1.8 Vintage Lens Review. The first notable thing about this lens is the polished aluminium finish and an overall appearance that evokes the style of the late 1950s. Even the designation of the lens referring to the focal length as 5.5cm as opposed to the more usual 55mm is a throwback to even pre WWII production.Sigma says the 35mm F1.2 can resolve over 50 million pixels which suggests it is targeting cameras like the 47-megapixel Panasonic Lumix S1R and 61MP Sony A7R IV the two highest-resolution
